Mamma Chia Squeeze packs come in a convenient little pouch that you can drink from. It’s made from fruit purees and juices, combined with heart-healthy chia seeds! Chia seeds are a food that I incorporate into many of my snacks and breakfasts due to their versatility and extra nutrition they provide! They are full of healthy fats, protein, and fiber.
I felt like this would be an easy snack to make at home, so I had to try to make a dupe! Throughout the creation of this copycat, I’ve struggled with one question…how does one eat this? I thought I had to answer that question before I posted this recipe, but I decided…you guys are smart, you’ll figure it out! I went with a spoon as you’ll see in the pictures to follow. But you could totally drink it through a straw, too.
On that note, the texture here is the thing that differentiates it from chia seed pudding or chia drinks. It’s right in between those two consistencies. It’s thin enough to drink, but thick enough to eat with a spoon too. If you’ve never tried Mamma Chia Squeeze Packs, I hope you’re able to imagine the consistency I’m describing here. I guess you’ll just have to try it to find out ;)!
What Are Mamma Chia Squeeze Packs?
Mamma Chia Squeeze packs are a convenient, delicious snack. They come in disposable pouches that are shelf-stable and can be taken on road trips, hikes, in a lunchbox, or anywhere else you keep snacks when you’re on-the-go.
They’re a healthy snack, but can be pricey. They also contribute a lot of plastic waste. So, having this recipe will give you the ability to quickly whip up the same snack in a much more cost effective and less wasteful way–and the best part is, you can choose whatever flavor suits your fancy.
Can I Put Copycat Mamma Chia Squeeze in Reusable Pouches?
I recommend putting my copycat recipe into reusable pouches to get the full effect. However, you can always put it in a reusable small dish or bowl as well.
Here are two good options for reusable pouches at two price points:
Haaka Silicone Baby Food Pouches, 2-Pack, $24.97: https://a.co/d/5qFvy9y
Hippypotamus Plastic Reusable Baby Food Pouches, 12-Pack, $18.97: https://a.co/d/4CkYA3H
Can I Use Other Fruits Besides Blueberries?
Yes! I tried strawberries as well with this recipe, and they didn’t have as much flavor as the blueberries but still tasted delicious. You can experiment with different fruits or fruit and vegetable combos! Fruits with a high water content will do especially well because you won’t have to add as much water to the mixture, making the flavor stronger.
Can I Use Fresh Fruit?
You can! You won’t have to use as much water if you use fresh fruit, because the fruit will become pureed more easily when it’s fresh versus frozen! Ultimately, you want your puree to be on the thinner side so that the chia seeds have plenty of water absorb and the consistency is right!
I hope you enjoy this recipe! Be sure to leave a comment or rating letting me know how you like it, and how you decided to eat it!

My kids and I LOVE this recipe! Thank you so much for sharing this. If I tried strawberry/banana, would you happen to know how much of each I would use? I am terrible at trying to change/experiment any recipe.
Hi Crystal, I am so glad you all enjoyed the recipe! For strawberry, I would try 1/2 a cup. For bananas, I am less sure of the amount, but you could test out 1/2 a cup too, and see if you like the consistency!
I’ve never rated an online recipe before but I’ve made it no joke 10 times in the last week thanks to you so I feel like I owe you a five star rating! Family is crushing this faster than I can make it!
That’s what I love to hear, Megan! Glad you all are enjoying it. 🙂
So glad I found this! My almost one year old and I share a momma chia pouch every day and today when I was at the store they told me they no longer carry it. (What the crap right!) so I bought some chia seeds and went to Pinterest trying to find a copy cat. I can’t wait to try this!
I am grateful for this recipe! I just made a quadruple batch of blueberry/blackberry! I love knowing I can freeze it. We’ve been spending a fortune on the pouches and my son loves the chia fruit blends. Thanks so much for helping me save money and reduce waste. This recipe is a winner!!
Would this recipe still work if we hydrated the chia seeds with water first and rinsed? I’ve heard conflicting advice but I’m excited for this recipe.
Hi Jessica, I have seen it recommended to pre-soak chia seeds to help with digestion as well. However, pre-soaking the chia seeds in this recipe will likely negatively affect the final product’s consistency, so I wouldn’t. Try the overnight soak if you want to err on the side of caution, the longer soaking time should be enough to address your concern 🙂
This is EXACTLY like the Chia Squeeze pouches! We have been unable to find them in local stores lately, so finding this recipe was awesome! Plus, the commercial pouches are terrible for waste . . . it’s so hard to get all of the product out of them, and they are very expensive! We multiplied the recipe by three at first, and my 3 kids loved it (ages 9, 12, and 16). We multiplied the recipe by 6 this week and used frozen mixed berries – delicious! I feel good about sending this to school as a snack. THANK YOU so much for sharing this recipe!!!
Hi Kim! Thank you SO much for your comment and review, you made my day! I’m thrilled that you and your kiddos enjoyed the recipe. As far as reusable pouches, you might check out these Haaka brand reusable silicone pouches: https://a.co/d/5qFvy9y or these plastic pouches: https://a.co/d/4HYbxA3
Just so thankful for this recipe. I always feel so wasteful buying the plastic pouches. This is so easy + has infinite variations if you just rotate out a couple of ingredients. 🙏🏻 Thank YOU
So glad it’s helpful for you, Clara!
This recipe is amazing!!!! We are saving so much money making this ourselves. Do you know if this recipe is freezable?
Hi Missekirby,
Yes, this recipe can be frozen. I would freeze it in the portion size that you plan to eat it in so you can thaw just what you plan to eat and avoid refreezing the whole batch. Thank you so much for your comment and rating, it means more than you know. 🙂
My go to recipe for pouches for my daughter. Thanks for a great recipe.
Hey Kayla,
I am so glad you found it helpful!
I put it in reusable squeeze food pouches that I can fill up ahead of time and throw in the freezer. If I go on a road trip, I just grab a few of them and throw in the cooler. By the time I want a snack they are thawed and ready to enjoy!
Colleen,
What a genius idea, I am so glad to know these are freezer-friendly! I’ll have to try them in reusable pouches.
I’d love to know what type of reusable pouches you use. Are they easy to clean? Thanks!
I used a pint of fresh blueberries so I had to quadruple the recipe ingredients.
I’m so glad I made a huge batch because THIS IS IT.
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks so much!!
So glad you enjoyed the recipe, thank you for your comment and rating!
Really delicious, thank you so much for this recipe! I used fresh apricots and fresh blueberries, tripled the recipe for the week. Would definitely recommend!!
That combo sounds delicious. I’m so glad you enjoyed the recipe!
I tried two different Mama Chia recipes and this one was by far the most tasty. Thanks for taking the tome to share!
Hi Ashley,
